Export Essbase Filters from Server and Re-Create 11

I had to once export all the Essbase filters from the server just as a backup.

Unfortunately after few days there was a security file corruption and had to re-create them.

So I created an automated way for this.

You can download the file from here(If the embedded zip file is corrupted, please download the zip file from here.)

Steps to perform (please read the EXCEL instructions)

  • Download the zip file from EXCEL, extract the contents to C Drive (if you opt another location, please update it in the bat file)
  • Update Essbase user name, Password, Server Name in the bat file
  • Run the bat file, and this will extract the filters into a file called Essbase_filters.txt (in folder driveletter:Essbase_Filter_Exportfilters)
  • Copy the contents of this file to EXCEL, Click on convert text to column button.
  • Click on Re-create Maxl
That’s it you can run this Maxl to re-create the filters :). Macro is adjusted so that it’ll alter the filter if there are multiple statements for the same filter.

Updated the EXCEL so that you can key in the application name and re-create only filters specific to that application.

Just key-in the application name in the highlighted area.
